The Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts, Dutch: Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht (ABKM), is located in the city of Maastricht in the Netherlands. It is part of the Zuyd University (Hogeschool Zuyd). The training found at various academies of fine arts in the Netherlands comes under the heading "Hoger Beroepsonderwijs" (in short HBO) which means Higher Professional Education.
The Academy has 800 students and was founded in 1993 but an institute was established about 150 years ago. There is also a Department of Theatre Design
The Academie proposes a 4 years Bachelor programme (BMus and BMus ed.) and a 2 years Postgraduate programme witch will become a Master degree (MMus) before 2010. The Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts does not have a doctoral programme.
